Uber Eats vs DoorDash vs SkipTheDishes Commission for Restaurants in Canada (2026)

If you run a restaurant in Canada, delivery apps are probably your biggest marketing expense, even if they don't show up on the marketing line. This guide puts the three big apps side by side using their own published Canadian rates, explains British Columbia's legal fee cap, and shows how restaurants keep more of each order without leaving the apps entirely.

All rates are from each company's Canadian merchant pages as of Oct 2026. Plans and promotions change often, so confirm with your account rep before you sign.

Uber Eats commission in Canada

Uber Eats' Canadian pricing page lists four marketplace plans (merchants.ubereats.com/ca, as of Oct 2026):

Uber Eats plan Delivery fee (commission) Pickup fee Notes from Uber
Lite 20% 10% "Keep costs low"
Plus 25% 10% Uber One benefits "for an additional cost of 5% for members' orders"
Premium 30% 10% Lowest customer delivery fee; ads matching "up to $50 per month"
Self-delivery 15% 10% Use your own staff; Uber couriers available at a 25% fee

Uber's footnote says the 10% pickup fee requires proof that "pricing for in-app pickup is the same as in-store. Without validated in-store pricing, your Pickup Fee will be 15%."

Uber also sells two off-app products: Uber Direct ("No commissions; tailored pricing is based on distance") and Webshop ("2.9% order processing fee").

DoorDash commission in Canada

DoorDash's Canadian pricing page lists three partnership plans (get.doordash.com/en-ca, as of Oct 2026):

DoorDash plan Delivery commission Pickup commission Trial
Basic 20% 10% CA$0 for 7 days
Plus 25% 8% CA$0 for 30 days
Premier 29% 8% CA$0 for 30 days

DoorDash adds that "DashPass delivery orders on the Plus plan are 27% commission per order," that the tablet costs "$3 per week" in Canada after the trial, and that all partnership plans come "with zero payment processing fees." Premier merchants can earn a CA$50 monthly rebate when they spend CA$100 or more on marketing. DoorDash also offers commission-free online ordering through your own channels.

SkipTheDishes commission

SkipTheDishes does not publish a restaurant rate card. Its partner page asks restaurants to sign up and talk to the team, without listing a percentage (partner.skipthedishes.com, as of Oct 2026). We don't quote third-party estimates as fact here. Ask your Skip rep for your delivery, pickup and processing rates in writing, and compare them with the tables above.

British Columbia's 20% delivery fee cap

BC is the one province with a permanent cap. The provincial page (updated January 20, 2026) says the Food Delivery Service Fee Act:

Platforms "may offer restaurant operators enhanced services in exchange for fees exceeding 20%," but those services must let the operator "cancel and return to the lower 20% fee cap" (gov.bc.ca, as of Oct 2026).

What to do in BC: if you're paying more than 20%, check whether you agreed to enhanced services, and whether you still want them.

What 25–30% really costs you

Simple math on a $40 delivery order:

At 30 delivery orders a day, the difference between a 20% and a 30% plan is $4 × 30 = $120 a day, or about $3,600 a month. AIOrders' savings calculator estimates delivery commission losses of $2,700/mo for a restaurant with $30,000/mo in revenue, "based on industry averages" (aiorders.io/calculator, as of Oct 2026). How Canadian restaurants keep more of each order

You don't have to quit the apps. The goal is to move your repeat customers to a direct channel and let the apps bring you new ones.

  1. Open a commission-free ordering channel on your own domain. AIOrders' online ordering charges "zero commission" and integrates Uber Direct for delivery (aiorders.io/product/online-ordering, as of Oct 2026).
  2. Import your menu from the app. AIOrders says it imports "everything from your existing UberEats or DoorDash setup in under a day" (Stop Losing Money, as of Oct 2026).
  3. Move regulars with QR codes, bag inserts and social posts, then keep them with win-back emails and loyalty.
  4. Stop juggling tablets. Order Hub puts DoorDash, UberEats, SkipTheDishes, Grubhub and website orders "all in one place" (Order Hub).
  5. Pick the cheapest app plan that still brings new customers. If most of your app orders are regulars, a lower plan plus direct ordering usually wins.
