How to Add Online Ordering to Wix, WordPress or Squarespace

You already have a restaurant website. Now you want customers to order from it instead of calling, or worse, opening Uber Eats. The good news: you don't need a new site. Every major website builder can take orders, either with a built-in tool, a plugin, or a simple "Order Online" button that links to an ordering page.

Here's how to do it on each platform, plus the trade-offs to know before you choose.

Three ways to add online ordering to any website

  1. Built-in ordering from your website builder (Wix Restaurants, Squarespace Commerce, WooCommerce on WordPress). Everything stays in one dashboard, but restaurant features such as modifiers, prep times and kitchen printing can be limited.
  2. An embedded ordering widget from a restaurant ordering company. The menu loads inside your site, so guests never leave.
  3. An "Order Online" button that links to a hosted ordering page. It's the fastest option and works on any site builder.

Options 2 and 3 work the same no matter which builder you use, and your ordering system can also power your Google "Order Online" button and QR code ordering at the tables.

Wix: built-in Wix Restaurants or a button

Wix sells a restaurant website builder and says "Wix Restaurants offers a commission-free online ordering system" (Wix, as of Oct 2026).

To use built-in ordering: add the Wix Restaurants ordering app from the Wix App Market, build your menu, set pickup and delivery areas, connect payments, and publish. Check which premium plan you need for online payments on Wix's plans page.

To use an external ordering system: add a Button element, label it "Order Online," link it to your ordering URL, and pin it to the header so it shows on every page. On mobile, add a sticky button too, since most food orders happen on phones.

WordPress: plugins or an embed

WordPress has the most choice and the most to maintain. Two examples from the WordPress.org plugin directory, as of Oct 2026:

To install a plugin: in your dashboard go to Plugins → Add New, search, install, activate, then follow the plugin's setup wizard (menu, opening hours, delivery zones, payment gateway).

Before you pick a plugin, check: who handles card processing and at what rate, whether it supports item modifiers, how orders reach the kitchen (email, printer, tablet), and who updates it when WordPress or WooCommerce changes. A broken plugin on a Friday night means lost orders.

To embed or link instead: add a Buttons block linked to your ordering page, or paste the provider's embed script into a Custom HTML block.

Squarespace: ChowNow integration, extensions or a link

Squarespace's restaurant guide lists Menu blocks "for displaying your menus" and says you can add online orders through integrations and extensions, including Allday Ordering and ChowNow (Squarespace Help, as of Oct 2026). Squarespace notes Menu block text is indexable by search engines, unlike a PDF.

ChowNow integration: Squarespace says it's available on Core, Plus, Advanced, Business, Commerce Basic and Commerce Advanced plans; you connect a ChowNow Company ID under Connected Accounts and add a ChowNow page to your navigation (Squarespace Help). ChowNow's own subscription applies; see our ChowNow pricing breakdown.

Plan cost: Squarespace lists Basic at $25/mo ($19/mo billed annually) and Core at $39/mo ($29 annually). Basic shows a 2% online store transaction fee (Squarespace pricing, as of Oct 2026).

Any other ordering system: Pages → + → Link, title it "Order Online," and paste your ordering URL.

Which option should you choose?

If you... Choose
Want everything in one dashboard and have simple menus Your builder's built-in ordering
Have modifiers, combos, multiple locations or busy service A restaurant ordering system (embed or button)
Want to launch today An "Order Online" button to a hosted ordering page
Are tired of maintaining your site A restaurant website builder that includes ordering

The ordering system matters more than the website builder. Compare total monthly cost (subscription, card processing, per-order fees) using our guide to online ordering system costs or the restaurant cost calculator.

Doing it with AIOrders

AIOrders' online ordering runs on your own branded page with 0% commission, and it integrates Uber Direct for delivery (aiorders.io/product/online-ordering, as of Oct 2026). You can add it to Wix, WordPress or Squarespace with a button, or replace the site with AIOrders' AI website builder.

Setup starts with the free Menu Import tool: upload a PDF, photos, your website, or an Uber Eats or DoorDash link. AIOrders says nothing is published until you review it. Pricing: a flat-monthly plan with 0% order fees, or a lower-cost entry plan with a per-order fee.

FAQ

Can I add online ordering to my existing website?

Yes. Use your builder's built-in ordering, a plugin or embed from a restaurant ordering company, or an "Order Online" button that links to a hosted ordering page.

Does Wix have commission-free online ordering?

Wix says Wix Restaurants offers a commission-free online ordering system (as of Oct 2026). Card processing and the right premium plan still apply.

What's the best WordPress plugin for restaurant ordering?

It depends on your menu and kitchen setup. Orderable (5,000+ active installs) and Flipdish Ordering System (400+) are examples on WordPress.org. Check processing rates, modifiers, kitchen printing and support.

Can Squarespace take restaurant orders?

Yes, through integrations such as ChowNow (on Core plans and up) and Allday Ordering, or by linking a button to any ordering system.

Is a button or an embedded menu better?

An embedded menu keeps guests on your site; a button is faster to set up and works everywhere. Both work well if the ordering page is fast on mobile.
