How to Connect Square POS to AIOrders (Step-by-Step)

This guide shows how to connect your Square POS to AIOrders so every new online order is sent straight to Square and prints automatically.

What you need from Square

Three things, all found in the Square Developer Console: an application ID, an access token and your location ID.

Get your credentials

1. Sign in at developer.squareup.com and choose Developer Console from the account menu.
2. Open your app on the Applications page. If you don't have one, click the plus and create one, for example named "AIOrders".
3. In the left pane choose Credentials and switch to Production at the top.
4. Copy the production application ID, then click Show in the production access token box and copy the token. Keep it private: anyone with it can access your Square account.
5. In the left pane choose Locations, make sure Production is selected, and copy your restaurant's location ID.

Connect Square in AIOrders

1. In the AIOrders dashboard go to Administration, then Integrations, and open the Square card.
2. Paste your location ID. Under Send orders to, choose Production for live orders.
3. Paste the production application ID and access token. The sandbox fields are only for test orders.
4. Make sure Send new online orders to Square is on, then click Connect Square.

Your access token is stored encrypted and never shown again. From then on, every new online order appears in Square as a paid order in Order Manager.

Turn on auto-printing on your Square tablet

This can't be done from the Square web dashboard. On the tablet, tap More, Settings, Hardware, Printers, then Profiles. Create or choose a profile, open Online and kiosk order tickets, turn on Use this printer for online and kiosk order tickets and Automatically print new orders, then save.

Use just one printer profile for online orders on one always-on device so tickets don't print twice.
